What improvements are you looking for?
I want to be sure I’m following primarily people with whom I’m having meaningful ongoing interactions, and people/profiles posting content I’m interested in. I’ve gone through a few times to clean out inactive/deleted profiles, but I follow a lot of people who I never have any interactions with any more and when I see their posts I’m not really interested. Need to get rid of those.
I've been trimming (curating?) mine more lately.
If I see something that annoys me and I can't immediately think of valuable content from the account, I unfollow it.

Man I want to properly mute / block some accounts
Yea they just don’t work consistently lol. Primal does a good job of hiding them for a while but then suddenly I’ll start seeing muted accounts again and I never unmuted them. Nostur hides the content from muted accounts but you still see the note with just the content hidden, and the mute list doesn’t populate across to other apps. I wish it was consistent.
We need better tools for this

Nope. It’s known to wipe the entire list.
It’s so old and so bad they built a backing up followers feature.
Oh I understand what you mean. I was looking for tools to manage the follow list, but not nuke it like in Corn’s meme
