nostr:npub1mmt2c7qgq404483t3fdd6njl9yhgw6hskn7rsypa7jmzy2s5450qluszvq Good question — the current implementation isn’t stellar (but I’m going to get it there, promise!) but the intent is for it to be a photo sharing service (while also serving as a way to load media that you want to use on other parts of omg.lol). I’m going to add an actual per-pic “visibility" toggle (and address-level default preference) so we’re not relying on the presence of a description as the sole trigger for whether a pic is public or not.

Description will wind up being the alt text for the image, and caption will be what’s shown on the image page. I do feel pretty strongly about making sure that the pics that appear on the landing page all have alt text, so I do really want to encourage people to add a description when uploading, though it’s not required to perform the upload. Does that make sense? I’m open to feedback on any/all of this!

I wouldn't mind if that were a requirement for images being public, though I guess it wouldn't prevent someone from putting nonsense just to make it public. Having a separate caption field definitely makes sense as well.
