I believe in banning international students and migrant workers in Canada. Canada must stop modern day slavery and abuse. We talk of correcting our past, but won't focus on the current problems at all. In 100 years we will be saying sorry for what we do today.

The USA is nothing but slaves.

Let me explain;

Where I work, we sell $250,000 worth of weed edibles every month.

There are only 3 females that make ALL the caramel and potdots.

Each makes $16.50/hr before tax.

The business pays these ladies basically $1000/bi weekly.

That means, where I work is paying $6000/mo to bring in $200,000.

We'll say the $50,000 is for supplies so these 3 ladies can actually make the caramel.

(although I know it's not even that high)

Now, if you ask me...

Labor extortion, is slavery.

It wasn't abolished, it was made legal for all to have slaves as long as you paid them some money. Today, its now ok to not even pay enough to live off of any more.

"You are free!" Really meant;

Give them a bit of illusionary freedom as i control them with money, instead of brute force like when a slave tried to run away, because that's alot of work...

Like I know business need to make profit, but do they really have to hoard so much value while the ones earning and producing them that value, struggle to eat?

It's crazy to me when businesses wonder why turnover rate, is so high....

But that sort of job requires such little skill that it's not worth it to a company to pay people more. The pay is based on the supply of people willing & able to do the job. Simple, straight forward work that almost anyone can do = low pay. Like flipping burgers it's entry level stuff that good for little other than proof you can show up which constitutes the job experience needed to move on to something better at some point in the future.

The people that own the business are not.

They figured out:

The lease

The production pipeline

The accounting

The licenses

Banking (difficult with weed)

Hiring

And a million other smaller things.

I watched the last place I worked hire 5 people to take my one spot doing plant work for cannabis plants... I watched them doing the interviews, hiring, etc as I pick my g/f up...

They all wave and tell me I'll always have a spot if I wanna come back...

🤣🙄 Yeah... I wonder why....

My labor, is all I have in this world to earn any sort of value currently with my 8th grade education and zero tech skills...

NOBODY is going to out work me at any 9-5 I happen to be working at. EVER.

There are a lot more posts like this one. Mess with employees.. They hold the business together often enough. You know how many jobs I have had where I am the only one who knows how to do something? Or an account only I have the password to?

Sure I have opinions...

But You know I only have and 8th grade education, you've engaged enough with me to know the life situation I'm in, I hide nothing about it...

And "become less replaceable" is your advise?

Sounds like some vague bullshit you just say to make yourself feel better and to have an excuse to validate to yourself that "your helping"...

The only mfs on nostr that's even took the time to think about the life situation I'm in, and offer any sort of solid doable advise...

“Slavery is not paying people what I think is enough” cheapens the horror of slavery. Slavery is forcing people to work with the ultimate threat of physical violence.

If you consent to work for even 2¢ an hour then you consented to it. If you volunteer to work for free, you’re also not a slave. These ladies are free to quit anytime, no one will hunt them down if they leave.
