I'm aiming to try to convince at least 2 ppl this next week.

What's the simplest (and cheapest) way for a new bitcoiner to run a node?

that's a good question for #asknostr

I would think an old Thinkpad from eBay and a hard drive is the cheapest

a start 9 may be the simplest though

Start9 running what software? Umbrel is the easiest. I like RoninDojo but not sure if it can easily installed on Laptop.

Start9 + core was my thought for simplest, I like umbrel as well though, ran that on a pi for about three years

I switched from Umbrel on Pi to RoninDojo. Umbrel used to crash, RoninDojo super smooth..but it could have been the case of how the drive was connected. Umbrel is super easy on Start9 I heard. Sounds perfect for noob.

A pruned node on Windows could be a good beginning.

Better if Bitcoin Core.

Please take a look at rizful.com … works great with NWC Nostr clients also …
