Regarding H1B, the question shouldn't be "should we let in more engineers from India so we can dominate the world."

This is "we the government" thinking. Rather, we should ask "Do we need to import people to rule over us and give away our inheritance?"

Facts.

The question is: should there be bunch of people making these decisions for me?

Unfortunately, this is not yet something in our circle of control

What is tho? certainly not politions and this absurd system of voting.

As long as the government education system and quasi-fascist corporate media dominate the minds of the public, the government will be given supreme and unlimited power and authority by the people

true.

I can bitch about the state, you can vote harder (no offense).

Fuck voting. Speech is supreme

I'm trying to decode what you are saying - is your expectations that these workers from India end up growing & owning companies in the US and they end up as the ruling class in the US?

Yes. It's an easily observed and dominy pattern in middle and upper management of most American companies

Yes, agreed that this is a dominant pattern.

The reality is that tech schools and the culture in India are quite optimized to produce people that work well in the middle to top management (and for some reason they also produce a lot of BE devs that can stomach enterprise Java).

I'm interested to see if this will continue to be the case into the future, as India tech sector is growing very fast now.

About the immigration question - I'm not convinced either way whether this is good or bad.

I just don't know. I have seen countries with strict anti immigration and they ended up stuck and behind...

Especially when they don't encourage entrepreneurship, where startup or owning a company is an offense.

If more Vivek Ramaswamies is what we are being offered, and that is what we want, we are too stupid to govern ourselves.

I don't know him at all or what he says. I think I have seen him in a picture, but that's it. So no idea 😄

It was predictable that before Trump even steps foot into the white house Elon and Vivek were going to push hard to saturate the market for engineers with slave-wage H1B
