Nicehash is great. Mines whatever, pays out in bitcoin, withdraw with lightning (fee for me is usually less than 10 sats). Only cpu mining is really worth it, but my cpu has been doing 8K sats a day recently lol

Ah. Thanks. I would like to calculate hashes verifying transactions for my own Bitcoin node. Already running the node on start 9. I would like to use Nvidia graphics card I have when not using for something else. What miner can I instal to calculate hashes on a Nvidia card?

No its just going to be extremely electricity inefficient. Its like mining with a CPU on a chain that GPU mining is normalized (actually its way worse than that)

I do agree with you, but miners are expensive. I could scrape together an s9 or two, but then I would have to join a large pool and they’re the problem right? We need more decentralised mining pools

I just discovered properties in rural Virginia and West Virginia that have free natural gas! The land has pockets of gas that the local gas company taps and gives you yours for free. Was thinking about buying a homestead out there and mining corn with free gas

when fees are high, you want to be mining for it and not paying for it. check out rigly.io you don't necessarily need to own the miners. But you can participate on the both sides of the trade depending on the market, as long as there are miners wanting stable income and buyers able to stomach the volatility.

Bitcoin is for everyone. you don't have to mine it to be a "true" believer. Mining is out of reach for the lay person. Stay humble and stack, friends. Run a node if you want/can.

There was never a world where Bitcoin works without people. To the contrary, it works *because* it aligns the incentives of the system with the incentives of the individual. Where communism does the exact opposite, it puts them perfectly in contradiction to each other.

S9s are great space heaters and you can get them for like $50 or something.
It doesn’t have to be absurd, because just breaking into it and doing the smallest version can be a huge open door to doing something more meaningful later.

Let's take all the end of run miners and put them to use in our houses for heat. Think of the diverse strong hashing network we would have.
Before the black rocks of the world take over all mining, we plebs need to get in the game. We can't compete against the 2-3cents/kwh rates the big dogs can get. So we have to take advantage of the "heat reuse".

I don't think this will work in the #UK due to the unit cost of electricity. It's currently 27.35p kWh, which is about $0.35c
That is not sustainable for anyone.
And it's much cheaper to heat your house with gas than electricity.
I'd love to mine #bitcoin but it's just not feasible. Unless someone can show me how it is possible.
