A tough note with a heavy heart.

We’ve decided it’s time to put down my best friend of the last 14 years.

Ruger has been on so many adventures with me. He’s been there to watch me get married, have children, go through many trials and tribulations. No matter what rain or shine, he’s been by my side to always show his loyalty and comfort.

This is by far the smartest dog I’ve ever trained. Of course he knew all the basic commands, sit, stay, lay, shake, hi five and come. He had a Facebook page where he displayed all his fashionable hats and outfits. He shined when he would also stay while a treat was placed on his nose, play detective scooby doo as I’d hide his treats in another room and have him sniff them out. He says “Ri Rove Ruuu!!” Which I’ll always remember until the day I get to meet him again.

I took him on a walk today to find his resting place. We found the perfect spot next to his favorite creek under a couple old growth oak trees. In the evening the sun hits this spot just right and looks magical. Something was telling us that was the spot for him.

As I dug his grave, I was flooded with all the great memories we’ve had throughout the years. Ironically, at one point I had to stop and collect myself. Ruger walked right up to me and hobbled down in the hole. I think he was telling me that was the perfect spot for him to rest.

We have a couple days left with him until his vet appointment this Thursday. Boy will he be spoiled by us all during his last days.

This note is for you RuRu. I love you boy. Rest in Peace

Very sorry for your loss Jacob. Make sure that he gets snuggles & steaks until Thursday

Very kind of you CK. He’s getting lots of goodies.

🫡 RIP 🙏🏼 saying a prayer for your family

Much appreciated John

One of the hardest decisions to make 😿

It definitely wasn’t an easy one.

I feel for you. I have a couple of old boys. What joy they bring to our lives.

I did this exact same thing about 6 months ago. You think you can handle it. But when it reality sinks in it hits hard. I'm sorry for your loss. I bet he was a great dog.

Exactly! Doesn’t hit you until the time comes.
