Pretty sure this is not only edible (culinary) but a choice bolete.

Edible or not, please don't pull the whole thing. Use a knife to cut it.

And you are correct not poison not edible. Look for edulis or aerus

Never munch on a hunch

Oh hell no. Still, it’d be nice to get some other eyeballs on it.

It is. Admittedly. A little thing Reddit is good for.

NOSTR Soon my fren. Soon.

In czechia if it looks like this and it isn't ultra-bitter it's all good. The bitter ones are not edible (and called Satan). Not sure if this applies to your area tho.

Some kind of bolete, that should get you started on the search.

Some of them bruise blue. That's about as far as I know 🙂

Oh, it’s definitely a bolete and it doesn’t bruise blue. I cut into a stalk and it has worms so . . . no.

As I understand it most boletes can be eaten safely, but very few taste good. Don't quote me on that 😂

Not certain but it looks like a bitter bolete. Tylopilus felleus.

Bitter bolete has black reticulation whereas this one has white. Reticulation referring to the web/net pattern on the stem. White reticulation is good. I can only speak for mushrooms found in the UK but as long as this doesn't bruise red or blue then it seems a promising edible.

Is it a king? It looks different than the kings I find around here but there is a lot of variance in size and shape. Boletes edulis has white reticulation.

Looking up the bitter bolete it seems to develop a pink sponge gills when older. Have you taken a nibble? I am curious.

I'm pretty sure that's a mushroom
