That’s the point! Some people obviously don’t think that what they want to save is bullshit. That’s why they want to use the bitcoin blockchain and they have and right to do so.
The fee market is the only filter we need. And bitcoin will not die because of people writing things in the op_return field
I absolutely disagree. Bad actors can pay fee and ruin the chain with bullshit or worse. This all reeks of a operation to sabotage bitcoin reputation and monetary purity. We need filters. We need transactions. Fees are for priority. Bitcoin is money. Simple as.
Let’s do them this! They spend money to block transactions and after they are broke everything runs normal again.
You clearly haven’t understood that bitcoin fees together with a limited block space is the best “spam” filter bitcoin can have implemented.

I don’t think it’s worth the risk. The whole argument revolves around a « necessary » removal of a filter limit. WHY do we need that ? What kind of an upgrade is that. It will bring nothing good and the modus operandi is a clear signal that it’s done with evil intentions.
We don’t have any “risk” because the OP_Return limit can be changed or removed already and we already have mined such transactions.
The update removes this option because it’s useless
