A few weeks ago I replaced my Tom Ford sunglasses that I had for around 10 years with a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses.
Today I replaced my black north face raincoat (that I’ve had for at least a decade) with a black north face raincoat.

You are simply relying on past good experience with a product that outlasted your expectations.
I say that it's fine those items clearly worked well for a good amount of time. If anything you for those two items save a load of money not buying cheaper products which you would've replaced several times costing more then these purchases. I say if it works that's fine.
