Best part about #zaps isn’t even necessarily the “making a ton of money” piece - for me, it just feels so nice to think that my thoughts and ideas provide real value to people. Enough value that they’re willing to zap me a few sats.

I just made a post feeling the opposite yall. I know what you mean...

But imagine putting your heart and soul into your work - I do modeling, acting and am a songwriter - and then you post some content and then people tip you 5 cents or 8 cents. 😦 It doesn't feel good hun!

I'd rather a smile or a like. Same for tipping at a bar or for a busker.

A lot of talk around here how bitcoins are so amazing but then the same people give you 5 cents. And the issue is at least on other popular platforms you can show likes for social professionals yall! Then to talent agencies.

Maybe it's just manners. Where I'm from the good men tip a lady right or smile and say thanks luv.

I understand what you’re saying and being able to set a minimum does not sound like a bad idea, at all.

However, understand also that a few cents (of a dollar) for many people in this world are not a small thing.

It’s important that small denominations can circulate globally and at the speed of light.

Yeah tbh it depends. There are times when i get zapped a ton and times when i don’t.

The point is that zaps are possible here. I’m not looking to make any money here personally, for me it’s about spreading good vibes and helping more creators find a place where they can make more than the $0 they’re used to on other apps.

If you’re looking to make massive amounts of money, this is not the place for you.

Yeah, we have the infrastructure and zaps are only one use case. I wouldn’t equate zapping to tipping (like tipping a bartender).

#nostr is still very early and building the infrastructure allows the early adopters to find new ways to monetize things.

unfortunately, nostr/bitcoin aren’t trying to solve the real-world hard problems, like the one you’re experiencing

and if you ask them about it, they’ll say, “…but we’ve given you a protocol…”

hopefully, someone will take this higher up the human stack

This platform is in its very early days. The time is gonna come where you will get many tips and most of them will only be cents, but they will add up to something very significant. And that's the entire point. And by the way, it's highly likely that those cents you are getting now are going to be worth a lot more very soon.
