To those of you who have done or are doing carnivore - do you supplement?

I’m interested in hearing results from men, women, parents of teens.

#carnivore24. It rhymes.

Meat only? First time hearing this.

That’s right. Animal based eating.

No supplements needed, everything you need is in the meat. Try for 90 days, you won't go back. Need that time for your body to rebalance. Energy goes waaaaaay up, benchmark yourself before starting.

Anecdotally, encouraged 1 person to switch and they went from type 2 diabetic to having to stop their medication as it was dropping their blood sugar dangerously low with no carbs or sugar in their diet. Now they are med free.

Trying to help another....

I’m looking forward to the increased energy and strength that I know comes from this.

Amazing results! Hopefully you have another testimony to share soon.

I threw out most of my supplements after carnivore.

There's no need to supplement on carnivore but you can expect at least 3 weeks of feeling less than optimal. I think it has a lot to do with where you start from & a lot is carb cravings.

I think you'd benefit from some electrolytes (magnesium, potassium & sodium) after about day 3. This is related to going into ketosis & shedding excess water.

Magnesium helps with muscle twitching & cramping. Potassium helps with low blood pressure & any dizziness.

I'd only do this for a few days, but you're kidneys won't mind the work. Salt your meat liberally.

Eating meat helps dull the cravings. Don't restrict how much you're eating & go for the fatty cuts over the leaner ones. You don't get much energy from protein & the fat helps.

At one point I got so sick of meat, I couldn't bear the thought of it. I think I fasted a day & then never had that problem come back.

I learned so much about my body doing this. Good luck

Thanks! That’s very helpful!

I do take electrolytes, and I supplement B vitamins.

I haven’t done carnivore for a great length of time, but I’m hoping my detox/reset period isn’t as lengthy or difficult as previous detox times from various elimination diets.

My questions are also for a teenage male - men’s and women’s bodies are so different and I was curious what others noticed for effects and benefits.

That transition period is definitely easier if your diet is already pretty clean & you're somewhat metabolically flexible.

Fasting and carnivore go well together but if you're not already fasting, I'd add it later. It just sort of happens for most people on carnivore.

I've seen men/boys do carnivore a little better than women. For some reason women seem to feel better with a little carbohydrate strategically added in. We're all slightly different & in my mind it doesn't make sense to be super strict with your diet. This usually happens months after being strict with it by the way.

For the record, I have carnivore meals & I eat a lot of meat but I'm no longer carnivore. I did beef & water for the first month & then added other meats, dairy, herbs & spices, coffee. I did this for a year before adding refined starches, sugar & fruit back in.

The only things I avoid now are seed oils & fibre.

I’ve experienced Herx and it was not fun. Transitions to different or cleaner eating is much more tolerable as of late.

Your regular food intake sounds similar to mine. Aside from seed oils and fibre, I also don’t eat much for vegetables. I don’t miss it and haven’t felt a need for them.

🧡 same

I don't feel like I need to avoid vegetables but I certainly don't feel I need to force them down either.
