why did midjourney build their product around discord, I truly don't get it

Wow, someone who shares my opinion.

easy access for a huge community + easy for the community to talk to each other and give feedback

+ the roles, TOS etc

I agree it’s annoying

💜

Because they are chaos agents piloting a machine imbued with a deep and abiding hatred of man.

Midjourney is really cool but this discord bullshit makes a great product unusable!

Its got a decent command line interface and sends you notifications when generation is done

midjourney has a CLI???

The DMs are a command-line interface

🍌

🤭

Beat it is such a great beat.

🕺

Don’t sweat the technique.

🌴

damn, never realized you could DM it, good to know 🙌

Pablo is 2 seconds away from building his own Discord/Midjourney replacement and 2 hours away from launching it ⌚️👀🍿

😅🎯💯

So incredibly irritating

For better community engagement so that they don’t need another frontend. Lazy I guess.

An unholy pact made during a blood moon with the discord community.

It is the main reason why I don't use midjourney.

horrendous

Why hire a front end web developer when you can get a 12 year old minecrafter to script a few discord macros and pay him in Fortnite skins?

I’d like to think it’s because #nostr wasn’t around when that decision was made.

Most social consumer products are a variation on group chat so you can make most products a social consumer product by building them into discord.

Same! I don’t get it. Nobody wants to use discord. The adoption would get parabolic if they got rid of it.

Same! Chaotic and confusing.

Stupid af

it feels like some console from the 90s

I'd also really appreciate if they create an API that is billed by usage, not by month.
