I was totally lost when my watermelon didn't scan and I did a manual lookup, under fruits but sam's classifies it as vegetable. I was so distracted that I didn't scan all my items in the confusion.

Vegetable means edible plants part.

All edible fruit are vegetables.

Mushrooms are not.

Anyone who finds this confusing either suffers from a learning disorder or they are just pretending not to understand as bait to troll people

vegetable actually refers to a way to serve them. like pumpkin is a fruit and you can make sweet desserts from it, but also serve it as soup, stew or vegetable side dish.
