From my experience running a node requires a bit of IT training to get the concepts...

Some anecdotes...

My first LN channel was 3 years ago with an IT professional buddy that doesn't even care about bitcoin, but understood the concepts right away like how to navigate in the terminal, how to scan your network, etc....

It helps to have IT experience..imo.

Oh you're in there 100%....

Which falls into my theory that most people that run a node have some kind of IT background.

I've been running Linux as my main device since the beginning. I used to roll my own Gentoo boxes back in the day but I can't be bothered to wait for all the compiling these days.

I think you're probably mostly correct about IT people and nodes. Unafraid of tech and willing to learn seem like a bare minimum.
