No reason to be derisive, imo. Emergent systems are genuinely hard to wrap your head around if you haven’t explored them in depth. I mean how do we “value” what a chair is worth? The idea that there’s literally no such thing as a nominal measure of value is difficult to grasp when you think of everything in “prices.” It isn’t immediately obvious that this is a perfectly circular/relative logic, it has the *appearance* of being a simple nominal unit.

yeah, even nominal units are defined by some standard, that's part of the issue, differential definitions are inherently confusing and modern education systems don't teach hardly anyone how to reason about them, i see this kind of mistake in code on a pretty regular basis too - and make my own mistakes... i expect to be ridiculed when i make mistakes though, and anyone who doesn't expect that is being extremely naive, and that deserves it also
I think this is exactly my issue. I'm in the process of trying to mold my mental framework into something new that is ready to adapt to what is coming in the future. And it's not as easy as I would have liked.
