just processing out loud... my family and I have been meaningfully stacking for close to five years now. We live below our means, we have a smaller house than we can afford, we have older cars than we can afford... and it has been worth it.

At this point there are very few things we are willing to trade a signficant portion of our stack for ... (note we are comfotable spending), I mean giving up our saved sats...

- family/health

- a dream home or property that gives us the opportunity for more self sovereignty

- a business that we can pour our hearts into that can build something for the fam or generate more btc

- our kids

- a btc venture that supports the network

- any mission God calls us to

left off two more thoughts...

- time there may be a point where i spend a meaningful amount of my btc stack to get my time back

- dollars is not on the list and didn't really come to mind until now... there isn't a target that I want to make or sell my sats for

I think you are spot on. I don't like the knee jerk 'never selling/spending' meme. Sats will open doors over long time horizons. Everyone is free to make their own decisions but to gain back time or increase long term quality of life or sovereignty, I will be divesting from portions of my stack here and there.

I also love that you are making room in your mental model for anything you and your family feel called to do.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this.

Appreciate your thoughts ... I agree that everyone will be making their own decisions and yes, jotting things down and thinking ahead of time so that I don't react or decide emotionally when life throws things at me

So many people and families today cannot do what you do, living outside their means, in perpetual debt etc. It takes real self control and hard work.

it's the easy button ... and life will throw situations at us whether opportunities or tough situations where it is tempting to use what you've stored...

I want to think about the ones that are worth it ahead of time so I am not frazzled in the moment

Agreed, spending isn't selling, and spending for health, happiness, and increased sovereignty is what sats are for.
