haha yeah the black forests are full of these right now in europe, frost is descending... and the liberty caps are growing in the paddocks too.

Acktshually,

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric, is indeed toxic, but it's important to understand the context of its toxicity. The mushroom contains psychoactive compounds, primarily muscimol and ibotenic acid, which can cause hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms if ingested. However, it is not typically lethal when consumed in normal amounts. The effects can vary greatly depending on the individual and the amount consumed.

In some cultures, Amanita muscaria has been used for its psychoactive properties, and there are traditional methods of preparation that aim to reduce its toxicity. However, these methods are not universally safe or effective, and consuming this mushroom can be dangerous without proper knowledge and caution.

Thanks yes, I should have clarified further and also given the specific names, as these are both non-toxic and non-hallucinogenic Amanitas!

- Amanita caesarea

- Amanita fulva

- Amanita vaginata

- Amanita crocea

- Amanita rubescens

I would probably be exceedingly cautious eating any of them tho unless an expert identified them, I am most definitely not an expert!
