The language of creation by Matthieu Pageau will explain ancient language and make other stories much more accessible.
As for fiction I really enjoyed Spectrum by Sergei Lukjanenko but I don’t know how good the English translation is.
As for comedy you can’t go wrong with „based on a true story“ by Norm Macdonald!
