Idk what persistence means here. I installed the Ubuntu iso on the USB drive using etcher. Installed Ubuntu on the computer but then it said I needed to format the USB in order to use it. I tried to format it and it just says it is write protected.

Did you choosethe right drive when installing? Itbmightbhave defaulted to the USB drive instead of the hard drive or ssd

I installed it to the computer and it runs Ubuntu without the USB drive

Sorrybmaybe I misread something. You have the Ubuntu installed already correct? What are you trying to do with the flash drive then?

Trying to format it so I can use it for something else lol

Ah I see. Try finding a drive partitioning aoftware. It think there's one included with Ubuntu

Or download gparted and try delelting partitions.

Dont make my mistake of deleting my main hard drive partition

That’s terrifying lmao

It’s like being your own bank

I don’t have it backed up 😂

Yeah you have to format the usb now in order to use it.

I can’t format it on windows?

Of course you can format the usb on Windows unless you’re not able to

It won’t let me. It says its write protected. Idk what that means.

I think it needs a low level format tool for windows.

Go the part Restore USB drives using diskpart in Windows

And also try the tool below that

I tried doing it through Linux but it didn’t work. It’s to frustrating.
