Yes, and fiat printing incentivizes these kinds of things. The transition from fiat to hard money can't be both smooth and immediate because everyone has been trained to live the fiat casino life. Changing those deeply embedded psychological tendencies takes time and/or a collapse of the entire fiat casino system.

Yes and I think some people believe that people can not be retrained. I think they fail to realize that there are many people who are tired of being manipulated.

You should check out burning man, it will radically alter your experience in the default world and show you an alternative.

Unfortunately the capitalist world we live in (and don’t think the alternative is communist) won’t let you escape the manipulation.

The only option is to participate in the change you desire.

Isn't burning man a CaPiTaLiSt enterprise now? With a franchise corporate model and everything?

The .organization is, sure, but the event ethos is still a gift economy, with a highly participatory culture and anti consumer ethic.

You're not trading USD but you are trading "social karma points" for the social esteem hierarchy that will naturally develope... those that produce and provide will be revered by the community, those that continually leach and consume will be shamed. "social karma points" can also be redeemed for goods and services (handjobs and drugs) just like regular money only much less efficiently

Whether they realize it or not they are engaging in capitalism (the combination of natural and human resources with energy to create value) they are just happening to do it very inefficiently

Are you a burner? Or are you just talking to something you don’t fully understand?

The social karma points you speak of are insccurate. Maybe someone thinks that way, but not actual burners.

It truly is a gifting economy, one which you are giving for the sake of giving, without expectations. People work hard for the entire year to provide a gift, and giving that gift is enough of a return on its investment.

It is not a capitalist endeavor, as there is no expectation of return or profit motive.

It IS an unsustainable system that requires external inputs.

"Burners" are truly exceptional in one aspect... the level of self delusion they will engage in to say they are AnTi-CaPitAliSt . They believe capitalism is unnatural, but it happens to be the most natural thing on the planet... every living thing engages in it constantly to stay alive. Capitalism is fundamental to life!

So basically you’re judging that which you have not experienced. Typical reply guy.

I'm sorry I had to bash your religion... it's just too easy to point out the hypocrisy and delusion. I am quite experienced with "burners" by the way, hence my strong opinions.

You’re making all kinds of accusations, assumptions, and ad hominem type attacks in a thread that was not directed towards you and you could have avoided all together.

You’re a joke.

You could respond to my claims and we can have a conversation like men, or you can continue to spaze out like an 8 year old girl; it's up to you.

No point when you say things like this, speak as if you know my religion, and have an obviously closed mind on the topic.

Muting this reply guy.

Traveling, and the work I did in my 20s, has provided me with a similar education.

And I think reality will retrain people. If the fiat printing stops, economic calculation can better reflect reality and people will return to actually understanding value

Yes,unfortunately I believe it will take a cataclysmic event to wake most from their stupor. I just hope it doesn’t do too much damage.
