For like the millionth time in two days, I'm dumb and really bad at this. Yet I am trying to help new people on here. Like newer than even me. Anyone post accounts or resources to help the newbies that I am trying to catch and help? I will literally follow any newbies hoping the small crowd of the people that helped me and followed me out of the gate will help other newbs.

nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 , hook him up with those resources when you wake up πŸ™

The Nostr CEO should never be sleeping! Wake up Derek!

I slept sooooo well. There's nothing like a night in your own bed with your doggy and wife πŸ₯Ή

especially when the dog snore …

I love it when my doggo sleeps next to me!

#asknostr #askadev #askdevs

Using hashtags can help, folks that follow them will see whatever you post with them. If the question is about a specific relay or client or whatever, sometimes if you hashtag the name it'll work.

Any chance you can hit met up with some of those hashtags (in addition to those that you posted above) so that I can not seem so dumb here lol. I would like to be helpful without sounding like an idiot.

I typically just search for one I think of that would be related to what I'm looking for. But the #asknostr tag is a pretty widespread thing. Often folks will hop on and help with more specifics.

you rang?

Using you as a demonstration, Lurch. :p

If you want to catch new folks coming in, follow #introductions and possibly to a lesser extent these days #plebchain. That is... Assuming these new folks know enough to use those hashtags.

If you are wanting assistance with literally ANYTHING, just use #asknostr. If you are asking about a specific client, you can absolutely add the client name as a hashtag, too. For instance #Amethyst, #Damus, #Primal, or #Coracle, and someone who uses that client, or even the developer(s), will respond.

#asknostr is a very commonly used tag. Please don't tag the developers for user questions. They have dev stuff to do.

I try to post or repost helpful stuff with the hashtag nostrtips

Sometimes people do this to hashtag introductions, but that one is really meant for newbies to introduce themselves.

Following # introductions is a great way to meet brand new plebs!

I’ll start you off with one, here’s my dad: nostr:npub1u35v4cgxrflxhc29383zgj2nz7hvymwag70er75yr6exct4xkl3shav9u0

followed him but I can't comment on anything (I'm probably just being dumb and tired lol). I'm sure you could be more help to him than me. but if he wants to talk to a fellow newb, I'll be back tomorrow night lol.

That might be because it seems like all his recent activity has been reposting others’ stuff. He’s a busy guy, I think someday when he has time he’ll start posting some of his own! Comments on direct reposts (not quote posts) go to the post by the original author; maybe that’s what you see going on.

See ya tomorrow πŸ€

Anyone that knows of a way that I can catch fellow newbs as they join let me know.

Followed you. What do you need help with?

Whatever you more expierenced nostr(ers?) think will help newbies. Whether it's helpful accounts to follow

....or whatever else. Someone sent me a link to view accounts that have just started nostr. I am going to try and spend like a half hour per night interacting with them.

I would recommend to spend some time to understand NIPs and nostr events. Which are basically what makes nostr interoperable. While notes are fun they're just notes like tweets. The real magic and power of nostr is hidden in the "other stuff". That's why I only recommend clients that support a wide range of NIPs such as noStrudel for example.

Then there is nostr.band which gives you a good overview on "actual" trends, curated feeds and more.

One of the most important things about nostr is self-moderation thanks to the lack of algos deciding for you what you want to see or not want to see. For that I'd recommend setting up "custom lists" to filter your timeline for content you do want to see. Mute word lists and tag lists work too when customising your nostr experience. Some clients, like noStrudel, have lists built-in. If your client doesn't display lists, use listr.
