Our first burr oak nut!!! My husband planted the sapling about 13 years ago, and we knew that burr oaks take a long time to make the first nuts. Now it started! This makes it a special day😊. #grownostr #permies #trees

I'd never heard of a burr oak until I moved to Ohio. There are some truly massive ones near me, they are the biggest trees in the area, even bigger than the cottonwood and sycamores

Yes i think they are very long lived.

Awesome! I have burr oaks on my property up in Canada. I didn’t realize they have such an extensive growing range.

Yes we love ours.

wonderful - congratulations!!

Excellent! We used to have a very large Burr Oak in the front of our property. A few local and state groups would collect some acorns from the tree every so often to plant them elsewhere. The acorns were huge, very unique and fun to look at. Sadly that tree died about ten years ago. I believe this was the only Burr Oak on or near us as I haven't found others. I think I'll do what your husband did and plant a new one, or fifty. Future generations need to enjoy the shade of a Burr Oak.
