The mental health of men is not taken seriously enough by men. Mental health symptoms in men can include:

- anger and aggressiveness

- irritability

- frustration

- alcohol or substance misuse

- trouble concentrating

- persistent worrying

- high-risk activities

- behavior that gets in the way of daily life

- thoughts of suicide

Some mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression, can also have physical symptoms that people might ignore. These include:

- changes in appetite and energy

- new aches and pains

- digestive issues

- trouble sleeping

- sleeping more than usual

Between the sexes, men are almost 4x more likely to die by suicide. Speak up, take care of yourself, and support other men.

But no one cares about the black American πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ men πŸ‘ŽπŸ½πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘ŽπŸ½πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Why assume that of others? Don't you care?

Because my experience shows me something different as a black American πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ in America

I see. Still assuming everyone is like that with your phrasing that "no one" cares.

A known factor of mental health is perspective. Perspective to see the world in one way or another.

Welcome to black America πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ deal with it

The unique experiences of men and boys of color is important.

We all benefit from better understandings of masculinity and cultural identity.

Your point has real truth.

Stigma and economic factors put these men at greater risk.

For sure I’m sick of it πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

How do we get help, is the question.

Who can help, besides ourselves?

Too many people suffer in silence, getting help ultimately involves professionals. We need to treat mental health like we do with any physical condition.

Recognizing that we are struggling in some ways is critical. Finding support is not as complex as we make it to be.

We can help others by becoming a trusted and nonjudgemental β€œsafe” person that keeps social contact and invites real talk.

1. Listen, learn about their experience, and offer reassurance.

2. Be calm, patient, and don’t make assumptions.

3. Avoid confirming or denying their beliefs and experiences

4. Find and provide helpful information and resources

Add in alcohol/drug abuse with those men who struggle with those issues then society has a major issue.
