Can we add an "out of office/vacation/auto-reply" option for nostr profiles or relays? Just set a message that you want to reply with for different event types like nip-04, nip-17/44, and maybe even mentions. So you can auto reply to all nip-04 dms with a message like "send nip-17/44 only" or "reach me on signal:

Something needs to trigger this, sign the messages and publish them. I wouldn't share my private key with a relay for this. You could always write a bot to do it, but this requires more setup than most would probably be prepared for.
What if it was info used by clients when they attempt to dm a user. It could be displayed as a hint or place holder in the convo or list views
Is it possible? Yes.
However, since notes all need to be signed by your private key, you would need to be willing to give the auto-reply service your nsec, so it could sign events on the fly. You cannot pre-sign them, since you don't know who will be messaging you ahead of time or when you will receive their message.
Not something I would be willing to do.
