It’s a hedge against an extinction level event on Earth ( e.g. a giant meteor we can’t divert away ).

It has benefits e.g. technology developed for use in space could be utilised here.

It flatters the egos of billionaires and so diverts at least some money away from lesser pet projects.

There will be no true “outer” space exploration until we collectively pierce the veil of “inner” space exploration.

As within, so without. 👁️💫💓🧬🦋

Actually they go together.

It happens simultaneously.

It arises mutually.

You can make the argument that, in general, we focus too much on the outer exploration. So one has to counter that by over emphasizing the inner exploration. When it's all said and done... they go together.
