It seems that a lot of people actually believe holding a certain position is just a performance that requires no real skill or knowledge beyond the performance itself. There seems to be a serious lack of belief in reality outside of human perceptions. And it makes sense that if your entire focus was just to always look the part & do what you are told you could likely make it pretty far. So in their eyes the sort of person who questions anything or points out anything that is uncomfortable is just playing their part wrong or being malicious or trying to attack others to get ahead.

Really gives the words "You're not a good Christian" or "evil business owner" or "evil politician" a whole different meaning when you think about it that way. The only evil ones are the ones not playing the part they way they imagine a good person would play it. It would explain why Obama wins a peace prize while bombing the entire mid east & gets praised for being "presidential," and Trump is seen as a disgrace. The way he acts & talks doesn't really fit the role in the eyes of a lot of people.

I recently had the misfortune to deal with a team of 10 people who were “helping” us make a connection to share data. This should have been fairly routine, however the group of 10 began scheduling multiple calls and starting lengthy email chains where it soon became apparent no one on their side actually knew how to do the work. We ended up doing it for them. Imagine if all of this wasted money and energy was directed somewhere useful? The sad thing is that there was zero recognition from this group that anything was wrong. This was normal.
