Showtime! I ordered the Flint. As for the modem, I'm thinking:

Zyxel VDSL2 17a Bonding and 35b Bridge Modem [VMG4005-B50A-EU01V1F]

Plain and simple, any objections?

I have a 250mbit downstream connection and I won't upgrade anytime soon. We got 1GBit fiber available but I don't need that much bandwidth atm. I won't add an additional AP at this point neither but I'm intrigued by Loops setup and will upgrade in the future.

Scratch that, it's the Zyxel Modem VMG3006-D70A im looking for:

Either the Zyxel or the Draytek Vigor 130/165 pop up all the time in forums. Anyone of you using this combination, flint + Zyxel or Vigor?

The Flint looks nice, I never heard of it, let me know how it is as I might need to replace my WRT1900 anytime, it has already some fan issues, I must be ready to replace it anytime.

I got it second hand for 75€ total, barely used, basically new. Offer is online for over a month at a 50% discount so it looks like there isn't much demand for this kind of hardware. Resell value very low. I got the modem for 80€, it's a good team and perfect for my needs. Thanks for the help!

By the way I have an FTTH to ethernet converter that I don't use anymore, if you can use FTTH but I see VDSL so not sure you could use it, depending on your service provider option.

If interested it's a TP-Link MC220L with a TL-SM321B (1000Base-BX WDN Bi-Directional SFP Module).

Nobody want it in Switzerland because it's limited to 1Gbit/s but all provider offer 10GBit/s now.

If you or anyone is interested I can sell it for cheap, I have to check shipping cost in EU.

You have 10gbit in Switzerland? 16k video steams?

In some cities yes, but not in my town, I have "only" 300/30Mbit/s and it cost 50% more than the 10Gbits... Some 10Gbits offer start at 40-50€ per month during blackfriday or chrsitmas sales.

It's basically a gimmick as even the provided router barely reach 6-7Gbits, which is already way too much for most users anyway.

There is even a provider offering 25Gbits symetrical, the monthly cost is the same than 10GBits (about 70€ per month) but you have to buy your own hardware and the cheapest compatible switch is more than 700€ + some 250€ one time setup fee for the 25GB fiber. So you really need to be an enthousiast homelab amateur.
