Went to get a haircut earlier and unexpectedly #bitcoin was brought up, almost everyone said they were “afraid” of it.

I was asked about it and not wanting to go to deep, I just replied with:

“I don’t think anyone should be afraid of it, you just need to take some time to learn about it…

I think the best way to think of Bitcoin is like it’s the best savings account.

Put your money in, hold for the long-term, let it grow, and only dip into it if you really need it.”

That seemed to catch their attention. After some brief back and forth it actually looked like they understood. Older audience by the way, mostly 60+ there today.

Comparing #btc as a savings account seems to be the quickest and easiest way to get the message across without having to pull out nostr:npub1gdu7w6l6w65qhrdeaf6eyywepwe7v7ezqtugsrxy7hl7ypjsvxksd76nak‘s Bitcoin Standard.

No reference to gold or limited real estate in a city center?

But if you found folks just in for self custody savings, that’s already pretty radical on their end!

Older folks with some real estate in their portfolio and stocks in their Roth mainly. Great to see them exploring options honestly, it was a fun conversation going back and forth.
