I pay $145/mo for a Verizon unlimited plan. Last month I used nearly 1TB of data. I understand that silent.link comes with specific benefits, but that's a hell of a price difference. Not being critical, I'm just not informed.

Probably generally can't compete on price with well utilized unlimited plans. Not really a surprise there. But for limited plans, I think these rates are very good. And those "specific benefits" are very nice too! 😉 Happy customer here 🙏

Thanks for the reply. I'm not well-versed on the subject of anonymous cell phone plans, so I'm a bit out of my element and just trying to catch up!

More anonymous, pay with bitcoin, credits don't expire, data plan just works in many places for travel. Probably not the solution for a TB a month though! 😊 I use with mullvad.net so it doesn't always look like I'm from Poland or wherever, not that there's anything wrong with that 😉 Couldn't quite get I message/facetime sorted on iPhone where physical sim was for number and silent.link esim was for data only. But all good so far on grapheneos pixel 👍

I can definitely see where such a service would be advantageous. And comparing it to my typical, domestic phone plan is probably not comparing apples to apples. I use my phone for everything, including providing internet access to all my devices and computers (which is how I'm able to consume so much data). Obviously, silent.link wouldn't be the best option for my use case given that I'd be spending thousands of dollars a month for something I could get for $145, but again, I can see where different needs may justify the use of such a service.

You're obviously an outlier and therefore not the target customer. Most people don't even use that much on a home internet connection. Where this pricing shine is for folks that don't use lots of data. To top it off, the data doesn't expire/reset. I personally use less than 1GB per month, but on a regular phone plan, the best price you can get is $5/month for 1GB. With silent.link I can outright buy 12GB for the whole year for $14 instead of $60 if I'd stick with a phone plan.

I wouldn't call myself an outlier since vastly more people use normal phone plans than use anonymous phone services. If anything, people who opt to use these services would be the outliers in this context.

In terms of my specific data use, I'm definitely an outlier because, as you mentioned, most people don't use as much data as I do. But that's exactly why I was careful to buy a plan that met my particular needs.

If you read the rest of my comments, you'll see that I brought it up because I'm not informed about these services, and the price was the first thing that caught my eye given the vast difference between my Verizon unlimited plan and this by-the-GB plan.

This would obviously not be the right service for me given my data needs, but after talking with some kind and patient people, I understand that every use case is different, and call for different solutions.
