it's really sad how most people can't think beyond the direct effects of their actions
don't they ever think about how others deal with the effects that their actions create?
they look at an electric car and think "oh that's less polution, it's sustainable" and don't think about the far less efficient path from lumps of coal to their shiny quiet vehicle, a path which is like 6 minimum steps assuming they live within 10km of the power plant that generates the power
yes it makes our city air cleaner but no it doesn't make the atmosphere cleaner, the opposite, the losses are at least 30% greater than directly burning the fuel inside the vehicle
