Would it make more sense for all posts with photos to be the same event kind? Currently there are kind-1 posts with photos, and then there the “Olas kind” posts with photos. What if kind-1 was just rendered as text with just clickable links to whatever is a hyperlink, and then “olas kind” events were rendered as photo posts with the associated caption?
They are different things. Kind 1s are expected to be texts that reference images. Kind 20s are images with some text for extra context.
The memes I post for instance are not good on kind 20 because you need to read my first sentence before seeing the meme.
But if the meme stands on its own, it could be shown on both places.
But I think you are going to see vastly different followers between the two styles.
It's a tough user experience dilemma.
We’re still posting photos on Nostr like PHPBB forum users from 2002, and these photos don’t last longer than a fly. Their resistance to censorship doesn’t just not exist—it’s the opposite; each one can easily be blocked.
I personally think some p2p method (likely pears.com) integrating with clients will become popular and help provide redundance and better censorship resistance when it comes to media

I just don't know if people want to see their family photos from Olas in the middle of their political shit from random people on kind 1s.
I like separate feeds. It makes it feel like a different app experience. But when that happens, does that mean it actually should be a different and separate app?
A UX issue needs to be solved.

When you're viewing an image feed, creating a new post from there would assume that your image would show up there, so that makes sense. But when a user is viewing their regular feed and posts and image and the image does not show up there, well that's confusing. This goes for Amethyst too.
Where does that end though? Is the solution then to just change kinds dynamically when a user adds a photo? That only seems appropriate sometimes and we all see several notes every day that making this change to automatically would seem not correct. Such as longer notes that could probably be long format kind 3023. But then to resolve this, do clients automatically change kinds based off of character counts too? I see plusses and minuses for all of these examples.
Maybe the FAB to create a new note asks what kind you'd like to create? New note, new image, and new blog, and then the kind is chosen based on what the user selected?
That's still confusing since you can still post and image in kind 1 or make kind 1 be a very long post, but maybe since the user has that initial choice it makes a little bit of sense?
Maybe we need some mock-ups and A/B testing?
Kinds are centrally chosen. Posts, lists, and feeds are organized by user choice. One could say kinds are varied enough to allow for that choice, but even if so, the client's choices predetermine what options will be viable, in context. All that to say, I don't know. But open standard consensus questions and historical wisdom can't be ignored. Who wrote the essential works on these topics already?
