I still get excited when groceries arrive and when I tore the paper bag open I found… a single stick of celery that I did not order.

Celery is the vegetable that all the other vegetables don’t want to invite round for dinner. It brings nothing to the table. Watery bastard.

Celery and I have had a very distant relationship over the years. I know it’s part of the parsley family and parsley has such wonderful taste and brilliant presentation, but celery is the one vegetable that I have no interest in.

The universe has a rather good sense of humour - if you let it.

Juicing Celery is soooo good for your gut!! It will cure what ales you.

I didn’t know this 👀🔥🫂 damn

You can't have Mirepoix without celery.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this 🥹 I suppose it’s good for something. Crunchy green water 😭

The entirety of French and most Italian cuisine would be in shambles without celery. 😅

Damn, 👀 I didn’t know it was so important 🤔 does it reaaaaaalllyyy add much flavour though? If we replaced it with fennel would it make a huge difference ? - genuine question 😂 I suck at cooking but I know you’re a chef 🙏🏽

It's surprising, but yes, it does actually make a difference and add that much flavor. If you replaced it with fennel, you would get an entirely different flavor.

If I lived in the U.K., I would show you a side-by-side of a sauce made with a normal mixture, and then one with fennel, you would immediately taste the difference.

Although personally, I definitely agree with you that by itself celery is pretty meh. But in terms of cooking with other things as a whole, it's important.

I swear I learn so much on nostr - not always what I think I’m gonna learn about (celery being important after all 🤯) but I love it. Nostr, not celery.

Come to the dark side. We have celery. 😈

I feel like I’m talking to ratatouille 🥹🫂 very cool. Huh, so I supposed cooked celery is rather important 🤔 raw celery is still rubbish though 😭.

Aw man that actually sounds like so much fun 🔥🫂 someone should do a sauce tasting event here where you have to guess the ingredients- I would definitely go. I would fail, but it would be fun 🤩

Remy* 😂

I think it’s delicious 👀

If it’s a texture thing, maybe chopping it smaller will help?

You could make mirepoix and have some French food

If you reeeeally don’t want to eat it, you could put it in a pot with chicken bones and onion ends and simmer to make a broth…

The broth sounds quite lovely 🤔💜🫂 I don’t mind it so much anymore, but the taste is pretty boring 😭 feels like a place filler - maybe I need to try it in different ways 🫂

I love celery when I’m hungry but don’t want to eat calories. It’s filling and satisfying 💜

Phil 💜🥹🫂 I’m glad someone loves it 🙏🏽🫂

You can send the celery to me 😊

It’s essential in a good Soffritto, unfortunately

Haven’t tried this 🤔🫂 will have to give it a go

You get what you need not what you want?

Harsh. It brings flavour to the table when used in some pasta sauces.

I don’t even eat salad. Salad isn’t food. Salad is a promise that real food is coming. Like a promissory note that a steak is on the way…

Celery is great when used to make bolognese sauce, and where I come from it’s one of the main ingredients in a tomato soup called harira #FreeCelery 😅

My mum uses it in bolognaise 💯🫂 I feel like it would still taste good without it 🥹 but I suppose it’s alright when cooked.

Nutritious.

High in fibre.

And my guineapigs love it!

As do my budgies!

Hairy water! Exactly what it tastes like 😭😂🫂

Best description ever!

Wish I loved it, it's soooo crunchy. But I hate it. I will occasionally eat it cooked in soups but I'm a child sometimes and pick around it 😂🤷‍♀️.

Me too! I think it’s alright cooked, but raw 👀 sometimes it tastes so strong that I don’t like to risk it. I’d rather just crunch on an ice cube 🥹

I like it for cooking. As well as a vehicle for peanut butter or hummus. To each their own.
