I don't care how you break them, but you MUST remove them in an alternating pattern that keeps the carton balanced, rather than leaving a bunch of heavy eggs in one end.

Woah, I never thought of this...
This is one of my favorite *-pills to drop on people.
Not only is it better for balance - you never have a carton fumble and drop - but it's also mildly mentally-stimulating. Removing eggs goes from being a rote task to one where you get to solve a tiny, satisfying puzzle with each move.
