Tells you all you need to know.
This will be a never ending battle. Best thing is to give control to the parents. They can guide their children how to not be on social media sites they shouldn’t be on.
Absolutely. My children aren't going to touch the Internet unattended until they are fully independent. (Moved out) Probably won't get cell phones until they're 16.
That’s what I think too. I’m sometimes surprised other kids already have phones.
The good thing, my daughter has never asked for one yet.
But I also notice that other kids are much better than her in navigating the internet, so I’m conflicted.
The best thing you can teach is how to use AI. She'll run circles around them. The best lesson my dad ever taught me was that technology is a tool, not a toy.
Good idea.
I wonder if there are tools for age restriction when kids are using AI.
The big ones are all pretty well censored. But I'd still supervise the chats. The key is just to teach her to ask it questions to learn things. And when she doesn't know something, ask it for more info about that thing.
I've been thinking through how to do this on nostr and a WoT relay that requires parental auth is what I've been thinking to test.
Wow, what an interesting subject!!
Unfortunately most parents are retarded and over worked.
They can still use another client. It’s just the official app that’s being cut off.
Is it really a protocol if there's an official client? "Official" and "protocol" are oxymoronic.
I’m not defending their decisions to be a company that’s in charge of the “protocol,” just that the unavailability of their app doesn’t mean the network isn’t accessible. People can and should also use VPNs.
