Making global paid only is good for removing spam but bad for saying hi to new people. Not sure how to solve this.

Iβve done my daily duty of saying Hi and following new peeps lol Shower girl is just too powerful.
Perhaps folks can default to paid only but also click on an official verified (NIP-05) as well if they want to see broader? At least the initial [free] step of NIP-05 is something.
Spammers are already using nip05 :(
Perhaps Damus can provide a paid nip05 service. Possibly too centralised though, but would raise funds and you could set some basic posting rules.

What rgb are you using for damus purple? I used 169,21,269 for the purple on my icons (269 is easy to remember and resets to the max 255)

Ah, I suspected that might be your answer. Well, this global is a hell of a lot less exclusive (considering paid relays are really cheap) compared to the old blue check rules at twitter that were just reserved for celebrities and large company accounts π€·πΌββοΈ
still they wont be able get exact same handle on NIP -05 - keys always shows real one
The solution may be that only some whitelisted servers can write to the global. This is how we encourage verification and that among all users we agree on a set of secure servers.
The lists could be published and voted among all users, relays, or al of themβ¦ Itβs complicated.
First message on Global is Free . Then a small one time payment is necessary to speak on Global
I think the ability to choose relays (the way it is now) is perfect. If you want, you can switch on public relays to find new people to welcome. Problem solved!

I think at least give the user option/feature for "Keyword Filtering", we can control whatever we want to see. I believe this basic feature can be implemented on every Nostr client. :)

Some devs will do bots I think and start publishing 1984. Then it will be easy for relays to follow some of those and decide what to do.
