I've never grown rhubarb before & I've only ever eaten it a handful of times.

I'm not sure if they'll survive the Queensland summer (zone 10b) but they're liking our winter.

I was gifted a 3 crowns from nostr:nprofile1qqsvpcxyyusnfkfd4pj3v5xppjnp9dcs5ecdtczrfz8j0crn58mr59spz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgswaehxw309ahx7um5wghx6mmd9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tctcr3a8 & all have sent similar sets of leaves out. This one I wasn't whether to split it again & it seems it wanted to be split. It has a second crown sprouting next to the main one.

We had rhubarb at my house growing up. I guess it was planted at some point, but they're extremely low maintenance and just kinda spreads and grows on their own. Not too much spreading, but seemingly enough to survive and thrive in the same area for over 30 years.

My parents still live there, and so does the rhubarb. It's in northern Sweden, so cold winters and mild summers, with the occasional 2 week heatwave of getting into the +30c's

Not sure what your climate is like, but I'd guess they'll do great! 😊

I've hedged my bets & placed the other 2 in totally different locations.

This is the one most likely to survive.

We don't get much hotter than 30⁰C but it's humid for long periods through summer. Lots of pressure from disease & pests.

Hoping they'll get strong through the winter.

They look happier than mine do at the moment!

I'm sure they'll perk up now that the rain has arrived.

You will likely be fine then that's like England when it's hot, they generally like the moisture and humidity and not much eats because of the oxalic acid content. I used to occasionally see snails eating the leaves but that's about it and typically when the leaves are young. If its gets too dry they sometimes pack up early and nearly always come back anyway.

Sometimes you've just got to let nature do it's thing.

I recall rhubarb and apple pie being pretty yum. Go all in on the carbs and add custard and ice-cream!

Would do ice cream or whipped cream.

I like my custard frozen!

Frozen custard??? Had never heard of it till today!

Ice cream is just frozen custard.

Ah, childhood memories of sweetened rhubarb dessert and biscuit cake with rhubarb in gelatine on top, whith a whip of fresh creme😋

You can also make a great summer drink from it - like a sweet & sour lemonade, plus it helps flush out last week's food, if you know what I mean 💩
