Yes we talked. He said he could maybe get them back for me when he shut the original mint down and said it had happened to several people. He was sorry which I appreciate but sorry doesn’t bring back 1.6 million sats. Anyway I never got them back after the mint shut down.

Which mint? LNbits?

Actually I think twice now you yourself referred me to Gandalf. So you’ve heard this all before. I apologize to you if you make nut stuff where nuts don’t get lost and I only ever post on your stuff and not his. And I’m not trying to bring up old shit. I don’t expect to see those sats back. But I do think I paid a very hefty price to be allowed to shit all over nuts any time I want 😂😂😂

Yes, nostr:nprofile1qqs9pk20ctv9srrg9vr354p03v0rrgsqkpggh2u45va77zz4mu5p6ccpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgkwaehxw309a5xjum59ehx7um5wghxcctwvshszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7qrxnfk I remember... it was indeed related to the hack on lnbits demo server. But it was even something before that, at which point the nuts could have been recovered/reimbursed . We were in the process of shutting mints down that were running there, and a few people had already made requests for lost nuts.

the hack on the entire lnbits demo server then happened, rugging i think multiple coins. I also had ~1M sats on there 🙏 I don't know if LNbits team ever made a followup statement, afaik they didn't.

it was rekless on our part to host our mints there, i apologize again for that.

You already took responsibility for your recklessness, so i'm not gonna preach again

totally understand your position, I'd probably have the same opinion about things, if i was in your shoes

I’m not mad at anyone, I just wish someone had said to me “be careful you idiot!” So I’m trying to pay it forward 🫶

that's a huge loss man, I'm really sorry to hear that. it hurts.

even though it was reckless from us to allow people to run mints on lnbits, and also a bit reckless of you to put so many sats in there, it's necessary to point out that this incident wasn't due to a technical mistakes or issues with cashu or something the devs could have prevented from happening. the lnbits server was hacked (due to lnbits being vulnerable) and the hacker stole from many more people than just the mints that were running there.

again, I'm really sorry. I also lost money on that hack. but that too wasn't because of cashu.

It was a pre-hack, technical issue. The backup button wasn’t work.

Working* in one of the earlier versions. And you’re right I was reckless because I didn’t understand what it was. That’s why I want to let people know, it’s not bitcoin. It’s a side chain and things could technically go wrong and you could lose your shit because it’s “so private” and you may not “have recovery keys” if the “backup button doesn’t work” 😂

I think it was LNbits but it’s been like a year now and I’ve given up on recovering and moved on to warning others 🤙🫶🫡
