It’s really crazy how hard it can be to not fall into all-or-nothing thinking. Even people who are philosophically trained, or have a general disposition towards uncertainty, can quickly lapse into all-or-nothing thinking when stress takes its toll, or emotions take over.

When it happens to me, as it does, and has recently, it really causes me to reflect on how much of my own mind I consciously control. I know, intellectually, that the answer is: very little.

Sometimes to get an emphasis on a point it can help to be black & white or all-or-nothing as an approach.

With the understanding from others that it is to make such a point. If that is missed some feathers can get ruffled.

Honestly, I’m not sure it’s ever particularly useful to advance understanding. Is there, perhaps, an example you could give that would demonstrate the utility of black and white thinking as a good thing?

All cryptos not Bitcoin are 💩coins.

The point is to say that if you are getting into the space you should first be focusing on Bitcoin only because so many scams are out there and Bitcoin is what will survive, thrive, and fuel the future with hope.

However that is disingenuous to other projects out there in the crypto realm that may in fact be useful and sound in principle. I have not studied all 100,000+ projects to know that a project is or isn’t a 💩coin.

By being back and white I can assert that stand with Bitcoin and caution others from all else.

Additionally, we may have highly nuanced perspectives on any given topic. However, textual and even verbal form of content is can be very limiting in how we express our ideas. It caters to linear, concise expression which may not be how it is represented within ourselves. Whenever we want to express our ideas through language we have to go through translating our thoughts into words, ultimately with some information loss.

Whatever is presented is interpreted as your "all encompassing view", which often is not actually accurate.

💯

I think people give you a lot of shit here, but nothing you say seems so outrageous to me, even though I do not agree with some or a lot, or a little, of it.

You do cause a reaction, replies, movement in my timeline, which is what I want.

In short, you're providing me with a service, not just for free (not really though, because you also get what you want out of the exchange: being heard), and I hope you keep doing it for a long time!

*not just for free, but taking quite an amount of abuse
