I’m a pretty conservative, straight, capitalist, white, omnivore, and libertarian leaning dude.

But if you’ve got issues with LGBTQ people, don’t care about animal welfare, ignore humanity’s responsibility for the health of mother earth, or if you’ve got issues with anyone based on their ethnicity or skin color…

And if your brain can’t handle nuances in complex issues/systems or you don’t have the emotional capacity to have a faithful and curious debate…

We’re gonna have a bad time.

That is great to hear sir, because it does sometimes sound like we are becoming a minority ✌️💪

Sure does seem that way sometimes eh.

I also think in general we’re quieter so if we put the bat signal out maybe we’ll find more!

That’s also my secondary take, as a ✌️ group we are a little less vocal about our stance but yeah let’s start building and lighting a beacon.

I'm always going to have issues with people who demand we take actions that are contrary to God's laws. If someone chooses to reject God's laws, fine. That's between that person and God, but the moment that person demands I do the same on his or her behalf, my answer will be "no" every single time.

And you know, from my experience, the person demanding I take a position against my conscience is usually less interested in nuanced conversation than I am.

Well played. Can I be a Christian and still have my beliefs in your eyes? I struggle to interpret what God’s “laws” are depending on the lens I explore.

we have to be careful to judge God's precepts against a consistent view of God that is based on what he's revealed to us and not according to what we want him to be. There's certainly nuance there, but there's also a surprising amount of historical agreement. That's where I start.

if someone refuses to even have the conversation and wishes only to destroy my faith, a nuanced conversation is going to be difficult.

Agreed- When people completely ignore the wisdom of religion pruned over millennia I question them more. Thank you for this.

I dunno, I'm more libertarian about this. You are the arbiter of who you associate with, who you like, and you owe nobody an explanation or excuse as to your criteria. So I don't particularly care if people dislike this or that group, harming people is wrong for something they didn't do. That's about the extent of it to me. I don't have a problem with any group of people, but I don't really care if someone else does, in my eyes that's their right.

Now, reasoned discussion, yes. If your dislike of some group is all you care to talk about, you're annoying and I don't want to talk to you. Not because of your views, but simply because you're an unimaginative wart with nothing valuable to say who's mind only thinks about one thing. I like to have interesting conversations, I like to learn, I like to talk to people who like to learn. Life's more fun that way, and if you're not learning you're not growing, if you're not growing you're dying.

Yeah I think your second paragraph actually aligns better with where I’m at. I should clarify I’m not about silencing people with certain views. But if someone’s not willing to talk faithfully and curiously about their stances that’s where I lose it.

I don’t care about animal welfare

Sorry to hear that St Hoshi, hope you’re doin well 💙

well, that was an instamute for me.

I admire your kindness

We all get to navigate this differently, that’s the ultimate beauty

If that is what having a bad time with you looks like I can relax now

Wait til we get to the good times 😘

I read this with a comma after “pretty”.

Way funnier that way

Lol omg that’s so much better you’re right 😂
