Was the magma carta overall good or bad for humanity? One could argue brilliant first step from a single authoritarian and one could argue it was a compromise of true sovereignty, for which we are still paying the price.

Magma carta?? You mean the Lava Charter?? I wish we had had that instead of the Big Charter.

We could have mantled an attack against authoritarianism itself. Set it ablaze, or engulfed it in molten rock and crystalized it to be looked upon as the strange curiosity it is. Obscenity turned to obsidian. Assholes to ashes.

I like to think that every major decision like this throughout western history has been made by humans trying to figure out the best form of government based on the information they had. Each successive instance was a course correction on the previous bad experiences.

I liked to think that too

Or authoritarianism is the end game and if it wasn’t the magma carta it would’ve been some other document by some other government.
