In terms of adjacent technologies, I'd love to see the rss guys get some love. Their podcast 2.0 initiatives have integrated zaps and value splits which allowed them to expand to the music industry (ripe for disruption).

Their world has been colliding with nostr.

Rss as the music distribution layer while nostr as the social discovery layer. All of it coming from a self-sovereign pov, putting power back in the hands of individual artists. Coming from someone in the traditional the music industry, this is a very significant shift. Potential for disruption as large as napster was back in the day.

There is a huge contingency of npubs leading this charge. A few major players tagged here:

There is a big red donate button on podcastindex.org and we can decide where the money goes later. Right now all the donations go to a fund to keep the servers running.

It seems to me like this is a bigger development push to make things more integrated and interoperable. Podcast 2.0 is incredible and a seismic shift but i think with Jack's weight behind it, a closer more seamless integration with nostr and money for UX development would make it easier to onboard artists and fans, fostering a wider and deeper connected community. In turn this would move it from a niche product in our corner of the internet, to the masses. Not just trying to keep the lights on, I want to see this whole thing level up.

don't they still rely on key send or no?

By and large, yes. It’s the best tool for automatic payments; ie send 1 sat per minute while listening to the podcast, aka streaming. Also the most efficient way to send payments to multiple wallets. However, we’ve been recently shifting to lnaddress, and the players are slowly shifting to work with either keysend or less efficiently with lnaddress

I wish we'd leapfrog lnaddress and go straight to bolt12

Me too. I hate when the vision is limited by the tools we have available.

I mean it's much easier to get a bolt 12 human readable than a lnaddress due to all the DNS indanity. twelve.cash exists

I think so. But from a non techie perspective, I've got to imagine with some funding they could figure out bolt 12 integration or some other methodology that is more seamless.

We’ve been waiting for Bolt 12 with bated breath.

we have been talking about Bolt12 for the last 4 years

I don't know the technical hurdles on the rss side but I'm seeing it integrated in a lot of the latest lightning applications. Ocean pool and coinos to name a few.

No technical hurdles, just a lack of major support. Good to see things moving in the direction of Bolt12.

Yep we just need something that works for what we are doing. Right now that is Alby since we have been working with them this whole time and they see the vision.

Coinos.io makes it extremely easy to spin up a wallet for valuesplits. It's custodial but that's the tradeoff. It does have a function though that allows automatic withdraws to another wallet (say a self custody non bolt 12 wallet) after your balance reaches x threshold. Could be a very viable workflow that makes onboarding a lot easier but we need bolt12 support in the splitkit or whatever is being used on the back end on rss side.

The apps have been looking into NWC. If you have an Alby account you can go to getalby.com/node and connect a NWC wallet to Alby and use your Alby account like you always have.

Coinos supports NWC but the keysend part is still buggy so it wont send a Boost from an app like Castamatic.

YakiHonne has a NWC wallet that does support keysend so if you spin one up and connect it then it all works.

We still want to use Alby but need an easy funding source for new listeners to send sats with. Us diehards have our own nodes for that but that doesn't work for most people. Right now we just tell everyone to switch to Fountain which is great but that's a lot of eggs in one basket.

I don’t know enough about Cashu to know if it could work for our purposes. Lots to look into.

I don't either. All of this ecash and cashu stuff I cant tell whats real or VC BS.

Most people are comfortable with custodial solutions. PC2.0 was no different. Until Alby changed their model, we all used their custodial wallet. I just want an easy wallet that I can easily move sats in and out and easily attach to any app. And sending payments is seamless.

I’d do some development for nostr, but integrating and respecting the splits is so fundamental to my vision that I’ve pulled back. I know there’s clients doing it, but the UX is less than ideal.

I’m hoping NWC allows me to move processing payments to a server so I don’t have to spend so many resources client side handling multiple Bolt 11 invoices.

bolt 12 zaps would be amazing
