So I read the nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct product is using 'http' instead of 'https' (whilst nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll uses https by default).

What does this mean for invasive IoT tech in your house (like robot cleaners etc.) with regards to your WiFi security? They could read your unencrypted communication with Umbrel?

Why not use https by default?

I am interested because I am thinking of either buying a device or choose for Linux DIY.

StartOS is Linux, a distro purpose built for a personal server. HTTPS on the LAN, because if not, anyone connected to your LAN can see your passwords and take your money. We think it's insane that Umbrel users put up wth this. They also don't have a backup feature, which is unconscionable.
