Not all that book was something to throw out. There are some solid content in there. 🤷‍♂️

That said, nostr:nprofile1qqsxu35yyt0mwjjh8pcz4zprhxegz69t4wr9t74vk6zne58wzh0waycpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhszxnhwden5te0wpuhyctdd9jzuenfv96x5ctx9e3k7mf0r7c87y convinced me to read Maps of Meaning and I’m glad I did.

On writing by Stephen King is an excellent book on writing. I know that’s not what you were going for but it’s the first thing that came to my mind when I read this post.

'Demian' and 'Siddhartha' by Hermann Hesse

I loved Siddhartha, due for a reread.. Demian looks interesting, will add to list and check out. Thank you for rec

The Tao Te Ching. A short easy read broken down into brief chapters that allow you to explore each component of the philosophy one at a time. The 2500 year old text teaches how to Go with the flow and just let things happen.

Atlas Shrugged, 1957 I think it was... Ayn Rand... what is the root of money.. p410 will give you an idea. It did me, and it all holds true to this day..

It's difficult to say one favourite. But I can suggest Euthyphro (Plato) as a fantastic door opener.

Jay read through, so good

Thank you for the suggestion, had trouble zapping you but will keep trting

I'm happy you liked it.

I really believe we all should have read everything from Plato and Aristotle in high school, but then again who wants people thinking for themselves? :)

Would you have a suggestion for me?

Let me think on this for a moment..

Do you have any jumling off points for me to consider, something in this philosophical type of sphere or otherwise?

I'm particularly interested in Catholicism and how St Thomas Aquinas was able to use Plato and Aristotle in his works.

I can also just ask you back: what's your favourite writing?

I recently read What Does It All Mean by Thomas Nagel and enjoyed it, posed some cool questions to consider

I also really liked a book called In Praise of Shadows about japanese aesthetics and comparisons between western and Asian cultures and their uses of light/dark

I like lots of different books and types but some of my favorites are Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke, and Lie Down in Darkness by William Styron. They captured my imagination when I read them.

I'm no sure it one of those lines up with you interests!!

I appreciate your suggestions!

There's only one way to find out if I'll like them or not :)

Haha yeah nobody wants that

*just not jay
