I will never understand why smart people ruin their credibility by continuing to make predictions. I imagine it is a way to keep the plebs engaged and committed, just as every shaman or priest does while preaching about paradises.

That's wishful thinking at least in the short term. Five to seven years in the future, yes, that's the most likely outcome. At some point the USD will simply collapse under its own weight. By then you only can hope that enough companies have Bitcoin on their balance sheets to water the fall out.
