Does a dead bamboo shoot drop all its leaves? My friend has a gold fishing pole type and was thinking he may have a stand of dead bamboo that he needs to cut down. But isn’t sure. #grownostr #permaculture #bamboo

We have a LOT of bamboo. They do drop their leaves for about a month. Here in WV USA they drop mid to late March. New bamboo is sprouting all over right now. #grownostr :)

I didnt think bamboo could die...

It sure isn’t easy to kill. We are overrun with it. It has choked out the alleyway behind us. We keep cutting it down, it keeps coming back. We’ve used a variety of herbicides with no luck.

I'm in Missouri, this is the third year I've tried to grow native rivercane bamboo, and I think it's going to take this time. Apparently it's not easy to transplant.

Well good luck. The stuff we have is highly aggressive and takes over quickly. It is a nightmare.

I actually would like to have a thicket of an acre or so. We're in zone 6A. It is native, but it's not as aggressive here. Maybe in 20 years or so with decent management we'll get there.

If it doesn't grow at all again then it is dead. Pretty hard to kill bamboo, is this a cold place?
