I would like to see Alby Go with proper UI for Folding devices (like the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold). Fun fact, the market share of Folds is at 2% and climbing. This is how it looks right now: 💩

Are you using one? What your biggest pros and cons with it?
Pros: big internal screen (amazing), it's like a mini tablet, great for produticity and gaming.
Cons: not all apps have proper UI/UX support for Folding phone; extremely expensive; 1 grain of sand is enough to ruin the internal screen, you have to treat it like a baby.
I see. I was appealing, until you mentioned it needs the baby treatment. I'm more a bricks form type person.
I'm extremely gentle with my baby (Fold), i never open it when i'm outside, and whenever i close the inner screen i always make sure there is no dust or grains. If you have long/sharp nails, you will damage the screen. Extreme cold temperatures are also a no-no.
There's a Reddit community for Pixel Fold users, and every day someone posts that their inner screen broke after only a couple months.
If you ruin the inner screen, they charge $1000+ to replace it. Until the price of Folding phones goes down, i don't really recommend this for the average user.

Now if the node restarts then you need to go in and login to Alby Hub for the wallet to function again. Is it possible to change that so it is back up and running on its own after a restart?

Would love a simple way to zap sub accounts from alby go. Currently need to login to the hub to increase its balance. Maybe I’m missing something.
Ability to migrate from one node to another for those of us using lnd.
Yeah I proposed this too in Alby github.
I would like to be able to switch Alby funding backend easily from one node to another, without restarting the whole process or editing conf files manually. Straight in Alby UI, change node credentials and done.
Something like LNbits have.
Ability to see in advance how much commission will be spent on invoice payment. Especially useful for completeness of applications working with Alby on NWC.

My dream is a dummy config for the normies with complete transparency. Lightning Network mechanics should be completely hidden, by default the user should see no channels, no on chain and off chain wallets, no nodes, no spending balance. It should all be managed automatically in the background, the user just sees he has 200000 sats in his wallet and that's all, he can pay lightning invoices and generate invoices. Everything else is managed automatically.
How to back up your channels and keys if you install Alby Hub in Umbrel???
If you link Alby Hub to an Umbrel (LND node), then the channels are already backed up in SCB through LND or Umbrel interface.
AlbyHub is just an interface for your LND node.
Lightning Addresses for family and friends accounts.
Would love to provide wallets for friends and family and have an individual Lightning address for them. It's just easier for newcomers to send to a lightning address and giving others their own lightning address to receive payments.
How can I achieve this right now? Let's say I provide the lightning node and create a family and friend account for my friend through my Alby Hub. My friend now has to create an account on Alby to get his lightning address.
He then uses Alby Go and connects to his account on my node. In Alby Go he can insert a lightning address.
If he puts in his lightning address of his Alby Account in Alby Go, will he receive sats, sent to his address in Alby Go?
That will be huge if they can implement family and friends wallets through the same node!
You can do that already.
You can create an Alby Account.
Then you install "Alby Hub" on your node. (Available on Umbrel and Start9 and Raspiblitz, that I know)
Then you connect your Alby Hub to your Alby Account.
And then you can create sub-accounts which are labeled as family and friend accounts. Which is really nice.
But my post above was about lightning addresses for these sub accounts. It would be awesome if there would be a way that eve y subaccount could get a lightning addresses like "blabla@getalby.com" That would improve UX for newbies a lot.

Yes, it is possibly. Actually it is really easy to set it up with Alby.
What I wanted to say was that it would be even more awesome if these sub accounts would get a lightning address.
This would make transactions for newcomers much easier as normies now this process from PayPal etc.
It actually looks like subaccounts can get lightning addresses! You first need to create a “Fast subaccount.”

Can you give some examples what you would like to have covered from the app? (basic settings)
I do a fair amount of in-person onboarding, so anything that forces the user to leave the app to configure things is usually a dealbreaker. If most of the functions getalby.com could be replicated within the app, it would go a long way to simplifying the process.
I get that none of it works without Alby Hub, but has there been any discussion about a way to add ecash or a nodeless (e.g. Lightning to Liquid) option for beginners, or does that not fit within the scope of development?
So you are onboarding people to your Alby Hub using the friends & family app? Since Alby Go currently is limited to NWC connections and has no connection to your Alby Account I am still wondering what configuration options you are missing in Alby Go?
We're following the developments with e-cash and other L2s very closely. However, we still need to figure out how these pieces all fit together into a solid UX that doesn't make it more complicated for users than absolutely needed.
I completely understand the need to limit complexity. I’m just looking at it from the perspective of a new user. If I tell them to download Alby Go, the app itself doesn’t give them any instructions on what a NWC connection is or where to get one.
For family and close friends, it’s not as much of an issue because I will do exactly what you said, but I won’t be responsible to manage wallets for people I don’t know. Most won’t set up their own Alby Hub instance unless they are already well versed with bitcoin, so I have to recommend different wallets like Aqua or Strike (if available) to them because they are best suited for an all-in-one package.
Maybe It’s a dumb idea but what about taproot assets integration ?
