The main answer is that Liquid is federated and LN is p2p and trust is minimized, but it turns out that in 2023 almost everyone uses LN in a centralized way, so in practice it is much more secure a multi-signature federation like Liquid because it also allows cold storage which LN does not.

What is the difference between multisig and single sig on liquid? It seems different than base chain multisig. You don't actually control all the keys on liquid multisig right?
