What do you usually cook this way.
Tuna steaks, on the barbecue. Shrimp, on the barbeque burgers also on the barbecue, I donโt freeze steaks, I grill those fresh from the butcher. Even chicken wings, but does take quite a long time to cook properly when frozen. Everything is on the barbeque typically.

I've tried methods of cooking frozen steak and it is juicy but it's not faster.
Iโve noticed with thick cut steaks 1/2 thawed using my methods (intuitive) turn out the best according to me.
That means you're doing it correctly, since I don't think there's a wrong way to do it except well done. No one needs to abuse meat like that. ๐
