Did some work on my car and I had a revelation. Cars built by unsound money are not meant to last. They’re cheaply built and designed to be difficult to repair yourself — because you’re not meant to. They’re built to last just long enough for you to buy or lease a new one — and let’s be honest, they prefer you leasing since “you’ll own nothing, and you’ll be happy”.

Making disposable EVs and hybrids because they’re good for the environment? They’re just that, disposable.

Carmakers have it all wrong. If they actually care about the environment (and consumer) they’d make a car that’s built to last, with quality materials, ICEs, that are easy and accessible to repair. A car like that could last decades, not 2-3 years like they do now.

💯these cars are 40+ years old, still running like new if kept up. Certainly better for the environment.

And better looking than 90% of new cars. Nothing but SUVs that all look alike.

what about toyotas?

Probably better than most, but they’re not faultless. With more useless technology in the cars, there’s more stuff that can go wrong, and it’ll cost more to fix it
